I have found this processor data analysis chart to be a classic and very useful for talking about the topic of Moore's Law and looking at trends over time with the advancement of microprocessors.
This is a continuation based off of Karl Rupp's work. I went to compile data from up to 2026 and I also went ahead to plot the new points under an interactive HTML representation which at least goes a little way toward making the data easier to inspect and check.
Please let me know either here or in my github fork about any data errors I have. There are a lot of new entries!
I think it is very interesting to see the predicted trends continue to hold with this extra 10 years of data, when I was doing a deep dive into this about 5-6 years ago, I only had the data going up till 2015 to work with in this chart. It is a cleverly designed log scale chart where values were chosen so that the series would form cleanly separated bands that did not intersect. This was such a clever way to put 4 charts into one chart.
It's noteworthy that all trends visible starting around 2010 have continued to hold out into 2025 and beyond.
