I got an idea related to building an ideal AirTag based tracker. I was shopping for a card shaped bluetooth tracker, you know, for finding my wallet.

I got to thinking and the obvious choice is to take apart an AirTag and cram it into a card shaped form factor. To be honest even if it were still as thick as the 8mm thick airtag it still might be worth it, because of the Ultra Wide-Band directional finding ability of the AirTag.

People have already come up with this concept years ago. (TODO compile a list here)

As usual I'm trying to add my own spin on it with a new idea. That idea is although the battery and airtag circuit presents a limit on the Z dimension, the credit card's X and Y dimensions are all neglected in these designs that I've seen. All just use a single CR2032 or CR2025 battery cell which limits the airtag's battery life to the standard one year or less.

Well I think I can fit 4 or even more of these button cells into such a card form factor, so I am looking to design such a thing and make it a project to dust off my 3D printer again this year.

I made a post here on MacRumors forums as a way to solicit opinions. But there's not really much input I need other than for someone to point out an existing solution.

There really is nothing like pushing the envelope to motivate you. Or maybe that's just a special disease that I have. Haha.
